QUAB Gallery - Mychael Maier's Nocturnes

...spent part of last evening at Mychael Maier's vernissage at Quab Gallery. His work is so beautiful. I was tempted to buy a piece, but thought that I would wait to see what he creates over the winter. His older work is on canvas with up to ten layers of oil which appears to soften the shadows and details, whereas his new work is on masonite, which brings a lot more 'harshness' to the shadowing. Interesting nonetheless.

I apologize to Mychael for the quality of these pics. I had to shut the flash off in order to capture the images without glare. These pics do not even come close to doing the pieces justice.

These are part of Jim Jewitt's 'Munkaspeni's Collection'. They are adorable, and he will make commissioned pieces. He likes the alternate Jesus thing...
