I'm not so sure if it's a sign of the times or part of my company's avian flu disaster avoidance plan, but the signs in the bathrooms and kitchens at work explaining proper hygiene and cleanliness just got a whole lot bigger this week. The ones in the kitchens outline everything from interaction with people, washing hands, and 'proper coughing and spitting' etiquette. Gross. I think it's really pathetic that grown adults that are supposed to be quite sentient since they are working at high paying responsible jobs still have to be reminded to wash their hands after a piss or a dump. Why would someone not wash? Do they revel in their own filth?
As the signs get bigger, I sense the passion of people for hygiene must be slowly fading away. Pretty soon they'll just let us shit in the office, for gob's sake.

When I was a consultant, and working occasionally at the Wal-Mart corporate offices in Bentonville, Arkansas, I was continually aghast to see the signs in every single bathroom stall (AT THE CORPORATE OFFICES) reminding people to flush.
But to have ones dealing with "spitting etiquette" - OMFG. What do they say?!

Well well well Avian Flu HELLO where does it come from! Just like Sar's The same dirty people all the time. Yuck!!! I guess that is one way of weeding them out! Just stay away from me.
At least it's in an office...I've seen chefs/cooks pee and not wash!
interesting how they keep telling us times have changed and we are so evolved and civilized, when really, we are going through the same hygiene obsession propoganda that they were enforcing back in the 50's (but i think it started before that, back in good ole colonialist days) when white folk created and jumped on the obsession with 'cleanliness' and 'purity' band wagon so as to make the Other (anyone with non-white skin, really), appear dirty, primitive, unclean, unpure, etc. etc. - basically lies lies and more lies to prop up whitey at the expense of all others.
at the same time, there were mini "educational" flicks (cheesy black and white ones back in those times) showing how "easily" germs travel and basically fear-mongering (white!) people into thinking they were fragile and susceptible to any and all so-called diseases that non-whites of course brought in to the country (versus America and home countries being the ones where diseases are borne).
funny, on Oprah a few weeks back they showed a so-called expert from the CDC (or NIH) in the states telling America what to be aware of with this avian flu (or was it west nile? - hard to keep track - they use the same tactics!!) - and it was interesting cuz of course ppl. had looks of fear on their faces and Oprah was bought in to his fear-mongering too, so when she pointedly asked him "so what do we DO / how can we be safe?!" - his response???
BUY BIG PHARMA DRUGS AND YOU'LL BE SAFE!!! LOLOLLLL
they even have a pill cutely named something anti-west nile / avian (whichever was chosen as the culprit that day) to mass-market. Isn't it beautiful? All this propoganda and fear-making to continue lining the big pharma companies' pockets for what?? NOTHING!! cuz this shit doesn't exist!! sure there are diseases out there but my gawd, the chances of getting these things are SO FREAKIN SLIM. We have WAY more chances of getting CANCER and/or AIDS (both western-borne diseases made BY THE GOVERNMENT and corporations) through various direct and indirect strategies of food production and consumption and the different medications out there that produce tons of adverse effects, and so on.
